Gotta go and eat now, bye!

Henry's B-day Party

Henry's friend brought over his guitar hero game and they played it together. Many of my friends have it too so I've played it over at their places...I'm by no means good...lol Rock Band seems to be the next thing after Guitar Hero...I think one of my friends has it, never played it before though...We have this "spongebob" video game in which you must try to mimic the drum beat of "squilliam" (squidward's classmate or whatever) and I find that not easy so I'm sure I'm not any better at rock band than you are...lol

I'll admit the washing machine did break while it was washing my clothes...BUT I didn't overload it or anything so it was just an act of God and nobody was really held accountable...I got home and found out it has not been fixed yet...dad's friend (aka repairman) was supposed to come last night around midnight (because he worked until then I guess) but I guess he didn't and apparently will come today in the evening...I'm confused...Canada Post seems to be taking its time...at work it took a package 10 days to get from Winnipeg to Calgary and it was sent "Xpresspost"...Of course the long weekend was there and it does take time for the mailroom at CBSA Calgary to process and then send it to its final destination at the airport to the border services officer. We were getting worried because its confidential stuff and we would hate to lose it in the mail. Over the weekend I've browsed through a few blogs written by TVB fans like you and I and I think our list of faves in terms of artists and series are pretty close...most people seem to really like Bernice...

TVB and Work

I can tell you this...the seventh day ends with smiles...what you read is deeper than it reads on the surface... ;) You'll figure it out when you watch the series. I found the ending of under the canopy of love incredibly cliche and not much of a closure to the entire series, but not The Seventh Day. I'll let you discover the truth for yourself...So the BIG secret in Forensic Heroes...I read that Linda dies quite early in the series...that shouldn't turn you away from the series since you aren't a 'linda' person. I've read that Kevin plays a small evil role in The Ultimate Crime Fighter...I think I stopped after 12 episodes or so...I didn't have the time or interest, but after watching him in The Seventh Day as a 'positive' character, it would be neat the see him in the opposite position. I may continue on at a later date. I met Andrew (my friend from Brandon) at school. We were in the same studio group and because we have similar backgrounds, we became friends. We have so much in common it was kind of scary. We both are asian, middle-child, science students, can roller blade, but have never ice skated, employed by the government of canada (Service Canada) performing reception duties, paid the same...There is more, but can't think of them right now. Kind of like you and I, we share a lot of those commonalities too. He is a year older than I am though, so he is your age. I'm glad you are paid as much as you are, good for you. It seems like CRA is better pay, lol. I think I will remain as a loyal CBSA for the time being. I'm really fortunate to have such a job, I shouldn't be complaining. We were told that CBSA has been added to the entire "public service" address book (before it just used to be CBSA and CRA) and I found Andrew on there under Service Canada. Apparently this is a new federal security policy. I can access everyone, immigration, parks canada, transport, etc... Besides Justin (the guy who is going to make $24/hr), I know a sister of a friend who works for CRA at the same office, we know each other but don't really talk to one another, more of an acquaintance relationship. And my list of friends ends there....Bernice and Moses were rumoured to be going out after Hearts of Greed but I don't think it was officially confirmed...I'll look into it some more and tell you.I didn't know you were interested in interior design! That is fantastic! You only have one more year to go right? It is never too late to pursue your dreams! We would have been going to school together if you were still living here. I would've persuaded you to come to our faculty. Stage design and set design is a branch of interior design (so is industrial/product design). Though I am interested in architecture more, the interior definitely plays a big part in a building. Kevin's role as a designer was very well played out...drew so many connections to my own life as a student...If you aren't a fan of triangle relationships, I'm pretty sure you'll like this one! Hard Fate was based on the development of a strong relationship and overcoming problems together, but had a terrible ending. However, Under the Canopy of Love for the most part was a four sided relationship and i mean it was nice and sweet to see them finally get back together but that was right at the end. The Seventh Day portrays love in two different ways...it's quite the experience. If I knew you were highly interested in the Seventh Day, I would have saved it for later, then it wouldn't just be me talking...Can we watch Forensic Heroes II 'together'? Just bear in mind that I can watch the entire series in less than a week, but I can slow down just for you. Just tell me when you are ready! I still like war of in-laws I better than the second...even though generally I do favour modern dramas over ancient dramas (I dislike those 'in-betweeners' the most). There is just something about marrying a woman after spending just a few days with her...I do believe in feelings at first sight, but true love I think requires time because you can't understand a person based on appearances and a few occasions, btw I the 7th day portrays this very well with Kevin and Niki. Also, the mother in-law is unrealistic in the 21st century...I've only finished 3 episodes so it is too early to give the series a pass or fail...but I'm definitely not as "hooked" onto it as I was with 7th day and Journey.Do you know Winnipeg is the coldest city on earth with a population of over 600 000 people? Yet we are the slurpee capital of the world...There is a mall right across the street from where I work, it is called Winnipeg Square, it is an underground mall of like 20 stores or so. There is a food court, mcdonalds and starbucks inside! Tim's is located another block further and I go there for my breaks and stuff.

The Brink of Law

Just finished The Brink of Law...I'll have to admit, we were slightly disappointed with the ending because Ron died...Come on, he was stabbed by this old guy with a knife. Didn't he see it coming? I thought he was stabbed in the stomach but he was stabbed in the heart. Also, why did he stay to listen to the old man anyway? He had the chance to run away after pushing michelle away. In our view, Shirley should have been killed at that scene. Ron would have escaped and called the cops, then the bad couple would be put into custody and Michelle would heartfully ask Ron to look after his brother. I thought that too many people died in this series that were not anticipated and not necessary...such as Ron and the other cop (played by Kenneth) much like the death of Raymond was a mistake in Hearts of Greed...I would give this series a 3.75/5...I think that it is worth watching, but nothing too spectacular about it...How did you about the ending? How would you rate the series?

The Seventh Day - Interviews

I was watching some interviews of K&N and I Niki said that she had like 10 hot packets and Kevin said that a warm bowl of soup was like heaven to them when they were filming in Hida-Takayama, Japan. It definitely is a very beautiful city but they made it sound so cold...so I googled to check out the climate and apparently IT IS NOT THAT COLD...the record low temperature is -15 celcius...What about the -40 in WINNIPEG? -15 is NOTHING compared to -40! In a theory of design class last term, we were asked to think of Winnipeg's Sense of Place or what makes Winnipeg 'Winnipeg' and I used our adverse climate as our sense of place because there is no where else you can experience all four seasons the way we do here in Winnipeg...In a way, I we laugh at people who think -15 is REALLY cold...We had a speaker come into our school to talk about her research (I wasn't really paying attention) and it took place in Northern Quebec where the temperatures are -40 and she began explaining what -40 felt like but then she stopped and said "I don't need to explain, you all know how -40 feels like". What she said was the truth! I thought I would just bring that up...I've also attached a link to a TVB Gallery on the Seventh Day...I really like Kevin Columbia winter white jacket... :D Laters! This is the Jacket!

Rewatching The Seventh Day

I rewatched many of the Kevin and Niki scenes today for the second time and it was very nice. Between K&N and Bosco / Natalie, I prefer K&N because ...(reason with held due to spoiler). When you are watching the 7th day, you must be patient as it starts off very good (1-6), then things happen and I felt that it was slightly better than average (7-16), then the final episodes (17-20) are unbelievably put together. I found the ending of A Journey called Life, good (it is hard to mess up that type of ending), but when compared to the earlier part of the series, it is a slight let down... Because you are not a huge fan of Linda or Fala...I think you should watch The Seventh Day first...Also, I am beginning War of In-Laws II now...and since you've seen it already I will be able to go on and on about it without fearing that I'm going to spoil it for you.

The Seventh Day

I just finished this very touching series and definitely it was one of the best 'tragic' dramas, for anyone who remembers...think in comparison Hard Fate. Ceci(played by Niki) death in that series left negative impact on an already so-okay series...In the 7th Day, I thought Niki was going to die with the brain operation because her wish of leaving kevin a 'present' (or a part of her) was fulfilled. That was truly the best gift anyone could've given them. However, TVB surprised us, and gave her 5 years, at least some time for them to care for their baby together. Kevin's narrative speech that announced Nikki's death is very memorable and touching. Why just 5, why not 50? lol. Though the ending was very depressing, the last words of the series "regardless of whatever happens in your life, as long as you cherished it, it will be your life's most beautiful" reminds us of what is the true meaning behind this series. It goes along with an old Cantonese saying "Disregard whether or not it is eternal, just know that you once had it"... or the english saying..."don't cry because it is over, smile because it happened"...

Here is a wallpaper that I created with images from TVB...

Besides the various media reports, I think another big spoiler is the main and subthemes though they are very beautiful songs, they tie so closely to the series and I am really beginning to appreciate them after finishing the series and closely reading the lyrics. I think that because of the predictability the ratings weren't as high as K&N had hoped, but sometimes I find surprises can leave a far worse impression of a series. K&N was the best part of Hard Fate and I watched it only because of the chemistry between them, but the sudden death of Nikki completely ruined the series. How can the writer be so cruel and separate them right before their marriage? In Hearts of Greed...I really didn't want to see Raymond (Alfred) die, I was so shocked and surprised... He and Linda had more chemistry than Linda and Moses, all along she only treated Moses as a bro...To me, that was a major let down of the series.

I find the relationship between K&N in the 7th day more mature and stable than Under the Canopy of Love where they were lacking trust. Clearly they were deeply in love. Thinking it was for the good of Kevin, Niki decided to make Kevin forget her. However, when he did, she realized that there was no one for her to live for in life and decided to "give-up". Similarly, when Nikki told him that he must leave her if she receives treatment, Kevin gave up in life because he changed his attitude towards life because of her. Someone in a forum posting said she may have lived longer if she went out with the doctor, but I don't think she would have, because he was no longer the one she loved whole-heartedly. She may only survived that brain surgery because she wanted to fulfill Kevin's promise to go to Japan (the place in the post card) with him, knowing that if she doesn't survive he will blame himself forever for not being able to fulfill his promise to her. This I found was a much better closure than UTCOL, which was (though happy) it focused on a very brief part of their lives and it was one of those series that could potentially be extended on and on with a sequel... Also in the 7th day, it was nice to see them finally marry and see their lives living together. I've rambled long enough... I truthfully hope that K&N will collaborate again in a fourth series...with a happy ending of course...perhaps starting as a married couple and going through what parents must go through raising children...how about with a baby girl who is about 5 years old??? lol... Thanks for reading!

The Seventh Day VS A Journey Called Life

Between The Seventh Day and A Journey Called Life...I think I prefer the Seventh Day...It is not one of those "it is finished when it is over" series...the things said and the scenes really stick to the mind...and I don't think I will ever forget them...it was such a beautiful story...It would give the 7th day a 4.5/5 and a journey called life a 4.25/5. The ending was better put together in the 7th day than a Journey called life, it was more of a closure, but as I said this closure is not the end...a very memorable experience...

The Seventh Day

I'm getting a bad feeling about "The Seventh day"...my predictions are quite pessimistic, the subtheme gives it away I think...5 more to go...will the ending be what I think it will be? Do I dare finish it? Oh how much I wish I could watch this series with you...actually any series...On a side note, tomorrow many of my coworkers are taking the day off to get a four day weekend so the office is going to be really quiet. I think there are going to be only 3 people left in security. The lady who I work with 'Kim' is taking the day off and she told me to take it easy, "you've worked hard this week" she told me today before she left...It will be a quiet one...the days go by really slow when there isn't much to do that is all...

Brink of Law Prediction

We were bang on with our Brink of Law prediction! The Seventh Day is really good too...Kevin is an Interior Designer student...something I can obviously relate to!

Work and TVB

This was my prediction from the last message that I didn't want to put incase you haven't seen Brink of Law yet.We are on ep 19 when bernice (wing) and steven 'split'. After we found out that the older man was a "bad guy", we came up with this prediction. We think that bernice is this undercover who is like an FBI agent or something and that is why she is playing 'hooker'. It took us sometime to figure it out, but after several more thoughts, it really makes sense. First of all, Bernice met Steven's best friend in Canada in a training session. At first she rejects the offer to become the company's spokesperson, but when she came back after returning to Canada (possibly she got a call from HQ), she wanted to become the spokesperson.I have met a good friend this year, and he works for Service Canada in Brandon. He came into town for training as a Service Canada Youth Officer in downtown, and it was nice to have lunch and hang out together again after school ended. So about me...my 'official' titles are "Accomodations, Telecommunications, and Security (ATS) Officer" (outlook) or "Student Security Officer" (what my manager told me) because I work in the Security part of the ATS department. However, my letter of offer states that I'm a Student General Duty Clerk, a fancy name for "Office Boy". The security department is responsible for employee clearances (every employee needs to be 'cleared' before hiring...that is right...even you were cleared). Each agency has their own "security" department and we frequently contact them because often employees from other agencies (CRA, Service Can, STATS, CFIA, CIC etc...) transfer into CBSA. We don't do the actual clearing, but we do the processing and the paper work. We work closely with HR and CBSA HQ in Ottawa. We are the head office of the prairie region and we manage all the border crossings (air and land) in AB, SK, MB, NWT, Nunavut. As a "Student Security Officer", I assign badges (really cool), ID cards, security clearances, access cards and keys. Also, every employee has a file and it is always weird filing your own stuff into your own file. I don't really have a fixed job, I just do whatever, and sometimes I sit there doing nothing, lol. I often have to communicate with employees via email and I have this 'footer' with my name, title, and contact. I was undecided on my 'title' and kept changing it, lol. My co-workers are all very nice to me, but sometimes, they talk about their 'adult/parent lives' and I feel like an 'extra'.I guess it is because I've watched Linda from her win at the Vancouver Pageant, I don't quite dislike Linda as much as you do, I means, she and bernice are pretty girls. Yes, they both won the international pageant. A Journey Called Life was quite good. I like Linda's character in HOG a bit more than a journey called life. However, I really liked the chemistry between her and Steven, they were a couple in Virtues of Harmony II. In HOG, I saw more chemistry between her and Ray than Moses. I don't want to give out too much on a Journey Called Life, but I would recommend it to you because you really enjoyed Life Art and I would give it a 9/10.The Most Beautiful 7th Day (The 7th Day) is so far so good. I've finished the first 6 episodes. Again, I really like the chemistry between Nikki and Kevin. Nikki isn't on my faves list, but is a like. Here are the people that I feel have a lot of chemistry

  • Kevin and Niki
  • Bosco and Myolie
  • Steven and Linda/Bernice
  • Raymond and Myolie (charmaine was good with him too)
  • Moses and Bernice (rumor has it they are going out)

I read something about Forensic Heroes II...not sure if you want to hear about it...but someone happens near the beginning.... I just watched another episode of The Brink of Law and Bernice just walked in as steven was about to put the spyware into michelle's laptop. I think Steven and Bernice are going to realize that they are after the same goal and are going to "team-up" against the bad-guys.

TVB all day long...

We have this incredible prediction of the Brink of Law. I'm also watching "Journey of Life" with steven, linda, and fala chen. It kind of reminds me of Life Art. Very full of virtues and similar in the development of relationships in a way. And you know how much I loved Life Art. Do you like Fala Chen as an actress? Honestly, I'm only so-so about her. She was like second runner up in the pageant, but I don't think she is particularly pretty and I guess you wouldn't know this but she can't speak cantonese properly and has this weird accent. She may be originally mandarin. Bernice has an english accent too, but it is less irritating than Fala's accent. Her acting is only so-so too, she tries to do too much and seems fake. However, the casting of fala is really good, because she plays a "I think I'm really hot, but I'm really just pretty" role. Linda's acting in the beginning is honestly, you will love or hate (kind of like moses' in HOG and jessica's portrayl of a gambler in Dicey Business). I think it was a nice attempt on her part, but perhaps she is a pageant winner and I find it hard to picture her with such non-lady manners. I'm about 3/4 done the series and she becomes somewhat more lady-like and more acceptable. Steven seems to have come back to TVB after disappearing for a few years, and he is in both Brink of Law and Journey of Life. He does have really good acting skills and is easy to cast as a professional and not. After I finish Journey of Life, I want to watch the "Most beautiful 7th day" and then "War of in-laws II" (and then maybe "survivor's law II"). Actually, I may try to watch Forensic Heroes II as well.

A Journey called Life is something different, it stands apart from other series. Most series are only either only go up to the wedding or some begin as a wed couple, but not this one! Rather than just focusing on a time span of a year or so, this series covers several years of a life time in only 20 episodes (so the story moves quite quickly). Many things happen, relationships develop, break, and repair very quickly. So I highly recommended this one. I'm on the second last episode...
