Life Art ended today and Heart of Greed is replacing it

Hm...I'm looking at my list again and I'm not too sure about it...There seems to be a big jump between The Seventh Day and A step into the past...I mean I liked it... but it was a long time ago...so I'm not sure how much I liked it. I know I liked it more than War on In-Laws 1...It is SO hard...because some of these series are from so long ago...I'm having a hard time choosing my all time favourites...Joyce Tang...she is good I like her too...I like her role in In-Laws 2..at least the producer didn't make her a dirty schemey criminal...lol...I should put her on my list....Let's say I like her as much as Annie...When Rules Turn Loose...ya that was a good one too...myolie and sammul...yup it worked...besides survivor's law it was sammul's best role...I guess the series played on survivor's law b/c sammul and myolie got together...I didn't like sammul as much in Triumph in the Skies and definitely not in Price of Greed...things are heating up in that series but it is about time...only 2 episodes left...

Memorable Series…(In Alphabetical Order) - Note the Asteriks (*) mean that the less than perfect reason follows in brackets...ones without the *s means the reason they made it onto this list follows in brackets

Dicey Business* (Bosco’s Role)
Forensic Heroes (Interesting cases and ways used to solve them)

Invisible Journey (Jessica)
King of Yesterday and King of Tomorrow (Maggie's best role)

Take my word for it (Annie Man and Julian)
The Drive of Life* (Too long)
Trimming Success* (Death of the Mother, but a good Kevin series)
Ups and Downs in the Sea of Love* (I hated that antagonist…His role made me hate him for eternity)

That is how my list looks like for now...

Life Art is almost finished airing...Friday would be the finale, not sure what is next...I hope it is something good! In today's episode, the bad guy James has been arrested but Janice comes back at the end of the episode. Perhaps it is his character of being quick and straight to the point, Ryan's (Kevin) introduction of Gigi as his girlfriend and later the umbrella scene is the right thing to do and is what I would do to. In many other series, we always get the "oh I tell her/him when the time is right" and in the end NOBODY is happy because if Ryan is sure that Gigi is the one, then he should make that clear. If he failed to make it clear, Gigi would only question if Ryan had made the decision yet. I think if I was Janice I would rather find out right away then waste time...I would be unhappy but when it is all over, I would be glad to be able to move on...Later on in the series, I guess Gigi questioned their relationship because she is not used to being so clear, cut and dry, but in the end she figures that it is for her own good...

Favourite TVB Celebrities

Here is a funny story about our new washer which is btw amazing! We got the washer on Thursday and we've been using it a lot! Because it does not have that agitator that takes up space and gets in the way, we've washed blankets and even full sized pillows... We were able to wash blankets with the old machine but fearing that it will break (how ironic) we refrained from washing blankets often, and we never washed pillows. By pillows, I mean the actual pillow! After sleeping on them for many many years, a yellow spot forms (naturally) and Henry and I did these "before and after" contests, you know like on "the shopping channel" and commercials...and we surprised our parents...What is even more amazing about the washer is that it is able to spin the clothes really fast to extract water and as a result drying time is cut in half! Now we didn't get a new dryer, because it was only the washer that broke. The washer is amazing on blankets and pillows, it gets them so dry that all it takes is another half an hour to get them acceptably dry and 45 min to get them completely dry. With our old one, one complete drying cycle (~1.5hr) cannot get the blanket as dry as 30 minutes with this new washer. Here is the funniest story...for the first few days we noticed that depite the washer sayings "all rinses cold", the clothes were coming out fairly warm (almost hot)...we thought "oh, it must be from the heat of the machine" so we played along and we took advantage of this "heat" and dried the clothes as soon as it finished washing...Then on Sunday, I began to question this hypothesis...and asked my dad, who installed the washer (I was at work), "could it be you 'flipped' the hoses?" and his response was "Um...I don't know...I just connected them...since we choose the "warm" wash mode, it doesn't matter does it?" "That is true dad, but what about the rinse?" So we went downstairs and I felt the taps to see which was cold and which was warm and sure enough they were mixed up! "Hot is always on the left and cold on the right" ... this extends beyond faucets! I guess that could be my story about 'heat'...a happy one...we haven't turned on our AC at all yet...the window has been good enough...It is also Cankerworm season and there are webs literally WEBS of cankerworms dangling from tree and today after work I literally stood in front of my house and I watched the worms...

Now for TV talk...

The Actors…You know what…I think I would tie Steven with Bosco, here is why…Bosco has more memorable roles, ie in-laws, but there are also a few roles he played I didn’t really enjoy…like in Dicey Business and even Price of Greed, he is only ‘okay’. Bosco was good in Hearts of Greeds with Tavia, Under the Canopy and The Seventh Day, but I think he is more suited playing comical roles. This is why he and Myolie have so much chemistry because I like her best playing comical roles too (but not in To Grow with Love). His next big show would be Burning Flames III, but though Myolie is in it, they aren’t a ‘pair’, it will be an interesting and controversial one for me in that regards. Steven on the other hand, I find is well rounded and can play pretty much any role, like you said from the ‘cop’ in “Ultra Protection” to the doctor in “Healing Hands”. Though I really enjoyed Steven in Journey called Life and of course Brink of Law, it was comfortable watching him (good performance) but perhaps nothing “outstanding” or out of this world. You know what I mean? For some reason, Raymond works in every series he’s in as well, though he doesn’t have a strong bond with any female actress in particular. He started with Tavia in Golden Faith, Michelle in Eternal Happiness, Myolie in Survivor’s Law, Melissa in La Femme Desperado, Selena in Face to Fate, Linda in Hearts of Greed, Charmaine in Drive of Life. Kevin on the other hand ‘worked’ with Gigi in Life Art but only okay with Charmaine in Yummy Yummy, perhaps it was the characters, BUT Kevin and Niki are out of this world! In that regards, I would tie Kevin and Raymond for First and Bosco and Steven for Second. BTW, I was just looking at the cover image of survivor’s law 1, it has Bernice and Myolie, our two favourite actresses and Raymond our #1 actor and Sammul (a like) too... I think our ‘affection’ towards them began with that series. If only Kevin (or in your case Bosco) was in it, then it would be the Ultimate Four! LOL! Funny how Raymond, Kevin, Steven, and Bosco all are singers as well! I like Raymond’s voice the most but I really like Kevin and Niki’s “Embracing Air”. Have you had the chance to listen to that? I sent it in an email. You should watch the MV too, it is only YouTube with close to 300 000 views! I think Raymond’s best song is the sub of Drive of Life, “Love to find you in my memories”. Steven’s voice is really good too (like in Brink of Law), very strong which contrasts Raymond’s softer voice, they each have their place depending on the meaning of the song. However, Bosco’s is only so-so, it is alright…but I do like the In-Law sub with Myolie… Do you have it? I can’t find a full version!

As for Roger, I guess I bumped him down because I only enjoyed him in Life Made Simple and Square Pegs where he did do an awesome job with Jessica in. His other series, the one you mentioned are not on my faves, lol, and you forgot one, Glittering Days (didn’t like that series, enjoyed the songs though). As for Moses, I didn’t really enjoy his role in Hearts of Greed, though he won “best Actor” and “most favourite character” with his role in HOG. Like you mentioned, he was good in Love Bond, and I enjoyed him in Family Man too. By Ron’s Dad, do you mean his biological father or the “father” he acknowledges? Though he usually plays the “bad guy”, I like the latter, he has good acting skills. His biological father had immigrated to Vancouver for a while now, so has Raymond’s dad in Drive of Life. Vancouver definitely has a lot of older celebrities, it brings them so close to home.

The Actresses…

First off small revisions….A TIE…Jessica (smart) and Shirley (young/energetic) for 3rd place…They are like version 2 of Bernice and Myolie to me if you know what I mean.

Did you know that Selena Li is from Toronto? She entered the HK pageant but did not place in the top 3. I’m not sure which year she was in. She isn’t on my list of favourites because I was quite busy at the time Face to Fate aired, but I got the “just” of it and I didn’t like her in To Grow with Love. Those are probably her biggest roles yet. She had small role in Life made Simple and (spoiler) she also played Kevin’s ex (I thought I left out the space there between the “s” and “ex”, lol) in 7th Day, though she was a good ex, she was still an ex, lol. Because I’m watching Life Art right now, I prefer Natalie over Selena, Natalie’s roles are less ‘controversial’, I know that is being slightly unfair and biased but honestly, if it wasn’t for Hard Fate, Kevin and Nikki wouldn’t rise to stardom and if it wasn’t for War of In-Laws Bosco and Myolie wouldn’t have either. BTW, Natalie played Kevin’s younger sister in Yummy Yummy and Life Art, they have chemistry as siblings because Natalie looks and feels very young and energetic and Kevin feels like a responsible older brother. After that ‘talk’ and under the influence of Life Art, I’m considering bumping Natalie up a few spots, to just behind Linda. I enjoy watching her in all her roles, but I have only seen her in playing the young and hyper girl but I can’t picture her as anything else, but if she stays as an actress, I’m sure as she matures, she will get more diversified roles.

I know who "Joyce's sister" is, yea I like her too, she is really funny at times. I would put her after Gigi. Life for life...that was the series with the escalator scene where two female (lawyers) began very differently and the hit and run incident changed Joyce's Sister's way of thinking changing her from the nice to the evil. Right? The girl who played Mulan was more of a semi-ex-favourite, she was good in the roles she played but has quite her acting job and is now a business woman.

As a recap...Top Female Artists

2. Myolie (Could have the chance to take top prize if War of in-laws II is good)

More TVB

I thought their leopard thing was kind of creepy though in War of In-Laws II...lol Bosco and Myolie are so much better than Bosco and Natalie...Myolie should have starred in the 7th day, but I guess they wanted to preserve as much of the cast as possible...I think if they had filmed the 7th day after In-laws, the producer may have had second thoughts. That would’ve been awesome because I think those two couples have incredible chemistry together.

It was hard for me to put them in an order fairly because I tend to be forgetful and am biased towards the movies I’ve just recently seen. I only like Esther because of Armed Reaction and the 10 year old series about cooking…She and Bobbie were couples in that movie and Armed Reaction 1, and I think they had a lot of chemistry…I like armed reaction 1 the best of all the incarnations because usually the first one is better…UNLESS…the setting changed like in In-Laws…We should make a list of our favourite series’. I would like to bump Steven up to 4th place in front of Roger and Moses…Oh and Selena Lee was good in Face to Fate, BUT I didn’t like her in “To Grow with Love”…I didn’t like that series really…probably 3.25/5…I know I’m being harsh, but the simple story just kept going and going…and I’m sorry but a fat myolie and andy don’t have much chemistry…lol…oh yea…Sharon Chan, Natalie, and Michelle (the ‘mom’) are good too…put them before Sonjia…Oh right, I forgot to mention that after War and Destiny, Armed Reaction 4 is airing again...this is their third time I believe! I think the second time was on the late night weekend show a couple of years ago! So it seems like my sunday afternoons will be quite boring...lol

First Official Meeting

I was in my first official 'meeting' with my manager and a few coworkers. The meeting was more than an hour long in an enclosed room with the table and chairs (just like in the movies) and we discussed the possible changes to the forms and then I went and made the changes...On the 23rd, we will have a much larger scale meeting to discuss our departmental (security) operations...I was included in the email listing so I think I'm 'invited'...I'll probably know for sure when the day approaches. Also, Public Service Week is coming up in June. Last year we had a hotdog lunch, but this year they've changed it to special daily events that run throughout the week...and it seems like every agency is involved whereas last year it was just a CBSA get together. There is like a big kick off event with food and music but not free...I've registered for a Sustainable Developments presentation held at the convention centre...seems really intense but I hope to gain some more knowledge since I'm studying environmental design.

War and Destiny and War of In-Laws...

So...reviews on War and Destiny and War of In-Laws...of course myolie was great in both series but she definitely had more chemistry with bosco than sunny chan in W&D (however, Myolie & Ron had chemistry when they were together). I guess, I was a little skeptical about In-Laws 2 in the beginning because I had just seen two more 'serious' series, journey of life and seventh day, so In laws seemed almost "kiddie" to me at first, but when I forced myself to think of it as a comical drama series, it is not bad. I mean the story was simple but funny and myolie and bosco are hilarious at times in what they capture with cell phones. Of all contemporary/modern comical dramas, I would say this tops them along with Life made Simple. I think Myolie and Bernice are both very good actresses and it is really hard for me to say who is better. Myolie is better in comical series than Bernice, her acting is really loose and flowing; however, Bernice is better holding an executive position/character where intelligence plays a great part. Bernice's image reminds me of Jessica Hsuan...
